With an aim to expand the interest of cycling from within a niche group to making it a necessity for everyone, Outdoor Adventure Centre (OAC) will be organising the first cycle expo in Nepal. The trend of cycling in the country has increased ever since the blockade in the southern borders and the recent transportation problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

These days everyone, from a school-going child to a retired person, seems to own a cycle. The number of shops selling bicycles has also risen and the market has a wider variety of models to offer now.

Ajay Narsingh Rana, an avid cyclist and also the national cycling coach, who is the man behind the concept of the cycle expo says, "It is not only an expo but an expansion of knowledge and a step ahead to prioritise cycling in Nepal."

He mentions that it has been two decades since he has been using bicycles to commute every day in Kathmandu. However, the notion that a ‘cycle is a poor man's vehicle is something that needs to be changed’, he adds.

Rana further shares that despite the time he has invested in the cycling sector, growth has not been as per his expectations. But he believes that with this expo he will be able to bring customers and the cycling industry closer.

According to him, the cycle expo will provide a perfect platform for importers, shop owners and cyclists to not only view the products on display but also share knowledge and experiences.

The expo will host stalls, talk events, documentary on Nepal's cyclists, insurance policies, presentations and many more exciting events. With the growing community of cyclists and its enthusiasts, it is set to enthrall and inform its audience with almost everything related to cycles, Rana adds.

The expo will be held for a day, on March 13 from 10 am to 6 pm at Outdoor Adventure Centre Nepal, GAA Hall, in Thamel, Kathmandu.
