The Sudurpaschim Province government has announced to give a cash prize of Rs 100,000 to each cricketer succeeding in taking the Nepali National Cricket team to the U19 World Cup Cricket.
Nepal's triumph in the recently held Asia Regional Qualifier in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has secured a berth for the country in the ICC U19 World Cup Cricket to be held in 2024.
Of all the cricketers playing from the Nepali team, five are from Sudurpaschim Province.
The provincial government announced appreciation for their efforts in the Qualifiers as well as encouraged them further to excel in their sports.
Those five cricketers are Deepak Bohora, Deepak Bohora 'B', Milan Bohora, Hemanta Dhami, and Akash Chand.
The cabinet meeting of the provincial government decided on this effect while four officials (head coach, assistant coach, manager, and physiotherapist) will be rewarded with Rs 50,000 each.
The head coach of the team was Jagat Tamata, the assistant coach was Dhirendra Chan, the manager was Bikram Bista and the physiotherapist was Puran Tiruwa.
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Chairperson Chatur Bahadur Chand took special initiatives to reward those five sportspersons with the provincial government. Chand himself hails from Sudurpaschim Province.
Cricketer Deepak Bohora expressed his happiness over the announcement and gushed that the cash prize would motivate them to continue with their sports.
The CAN has urged other provincial governments to follow the suit to encourage sportspersons par excellence and to promote the sports sector.
The CAN itself has announced to reward every member of the team winning in the Qualifier match with Rs 100,000.
