Former Basketball President and General Secretary of Nepal Olympic Committee Lama Tendi Sherpa has passed away at the age of 50. He was suffering from Neurological Disorder. Sherpa was under treatment at Bishalnagar Arogin Care Home and daycare center.
Sherpa’s last ritual is been performed at Sherpa Gumba in Baudha today. Sherpa was in the sports field since the late 90s but he first steeped in basketball in 2003 as a vice president. In 2005 Sherpa was elected president of the Nepal Basketball Association.
“When Lama Tendi Sherpa became a part of Nepal Basketball Association he changed the whole scenario of basketball in the nation. Before NeBA was nothing but just an association but after he became the president Nepali players had a ground to perform at many international games such as in South Asia. Many young players got chances to show their talent in an international platform and he gave all he could to make basketball a better sport in our country,” says Narendra Thapa (secretary-general of Nepal Basketball Association.)
