ICC World Cup Cricket: Canada beat Nepal by five wickets

Nepal has suffered a loss in its third consecutive match of the ICC World Cup Cricket League-2 underway in Canada.

Nepal has lost to Canada by five wickets in the match held this morning at King City.

It may be noted that Nepal had lost to Canada by 103 runs in the first match of the triangular series.

Chasing a target of 182 runs today, Canada achieved it in 42 overs at the loss of five wickets. Navneet Dhaliwal and Pragat Singh completed half-centuries for Canada.

Opener Aaron Johnson was dismissed without opening the account, while another opener Dhaliwal and Pragat shared a 122-run partnership for the second wicket.

Dhaliwal was the top scorer for the team with 87 runs off 113 balls with eight fours and four sixes. Similarly, Pragat scored 64 runs in 83 balls with the help of seven fours and two sixes. Harsh Thakar scored 13 runs while Nicholas Kirtan scored 11 runs.

Sandeep Lamichhane took two wickets for Nepal while Karan KC, Gulshan Jha and Lalit Rajbanshi picked up one wicket each.

Batting first after winning the toss, Nepal scored 181 runs before being bowled out in 46.1 overs.

Sandeep scored the highest 49 runs in 48 balls for the team. He hit five fours and a six. This is the best batting of Sandeep's ODI career. Earlier, he scored an unbeaten 35 off 50 balls against Papua New Guinea in 2023.

Gulshan Jha contributed 34 runs off 56 balls with two fours and two sixes. Karan KC made 24 runs while Sompal Kami scored 21 runs. Arjun Saud and Arif Sheikh scored 10 runs each, while Bhim Sarki and captain Rohit Poudel scored four runs each.

For Canada, Kaleem Sana took three wickets while Harsh Thaker and Dilon Hayliger took two wickets each. Praveen Kumar and Saadwin Zafar took one wicket each.

Nepal will play its last match of the triangular series against Oman on Tuesday.
