Sandeep Lamichhane is not going to play the ICC Cricket World Cup League Two match in UAE. Cricket Association Nepal (CAN) has placed Pratik Ji in place of Lamichhane in the list of players going to UAE.
According to sources, CAN has not included Sandeep for the series to be held abroad due to legal hurdles. Nepal is playing against UAE and Papua New Guinea under League Two. The Nepali team will play the first match against Papua New Guinea on 27 February and is going to the UAE on the 6th March.
The case of Sandeep Lamichhane, accused of raping a minor, is pending in the district court in Kathmandu. After the High Court Patan released him on bail of Rs 20 lakh, CAN kept him in the team for the matches against Scotland and Namibia at home.
The High Court had mentioned that Sandeep will not be allowed to go abroad while ordering his release on bail.
