The Deputy Metropolitan Municipality has honored Kushal Malla, a player of the Nepali National Cricket Team. Malla, a permanent resident of Butwal sub-metropolis-11 Devinagar, was jointly honored by Butwal sub-metropolitan chief Khelraj Pandey, deputy chief Savitradevi Aryal, chief administrative officer Tekraj Panthi, education and public health division chief Mitramani Khanal. On that occasion, he was awarded Rs 50,000 in cash.
Former national cricket player and coach Shakti Gauchan and Malla's mother Sharmila Malla were also honored by wearing dosalla. In the award ceremony, Mayor Khelraj Pandey said that Kushal Malla's achievements in cricket have raised the reputation of Butwal. He said that a budget of more than three million rupees has been allocated for the development of the sports sector in the city and said that the sports infrastructure sector has been given priority.
He said that Butwal is continuously working on the construction, maintenance and protection of necessary infrastructure for organizing national level sports in Butwal. Mayor Pandey asked the sports leaders and organizations to promote Butwal through sports tourism.
In the program, Shakti Gauchan, a former national cricket player and coach, said that there is a lot of potential for sports in Butwal and said that the efforts of Butwal sub-metropolis are excellent and it will be supported by the sports field. Player Kushal Malla said that the honor given by Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City has boosted his morale and he will work harder in the coming days.
