National men's team head coach Vincenzo Alberto Annese has been officially unveiled amidst a press meet at Dasharath Stadium on Tuesday.
Coach Annese also laid out his plans and ambitions for the national team during the meet. He said he had been following Nepali football for over two years. "I wanted to come here and become the head coach of the national team. This is the highest point of my career and I want to explore the potential Nepali football has to offer," he said.
Speaking about hoards of players leaving the country for abroad opportunities, he said he would field new players with new strategy and hoped to do good with the national team. "I believe in young energetic players. Nepal has quality of young players and only thing they lack is experience. They need experience," he said.
When asked if he would call players who went abroad to the national team, he said he would instead call those players whom he had watched playing. "If a player leaves for an amateur team, I cannot see them playing. I won't know the actual situation. I would prefer calling the players I have watched playing," Annese said.
Coach Annese said his goal during his one year tenure with the national team is to win. "Only win can help us achieve something. We need to change to achieve those wins but it is going to take some time," he said.
