Nepali PUBG Team DRS has been selected for the World Championship Global Esports Games to be organized by the Global Esports Federation.

After passing the Asian Qualifier held on Sunday, DRS has received official recognition for the tournament to be held in Istanbul, Turkey in December. In the competition held at its own boot camp, Nepal was selected for the world-class competition by being among the top four.

Teams from 8 countries competed in the group. Mongolia, Chinese Taipei, Vietnam and Nepal were selected while Brunei, Pakistan, Maldives and Sri Lanka were defeated. DRS team of Dipesh Gurung, Sah Bhandari, Suvin Kumar Prajapati, Sameer Gurung and Sangeen Bhattarai won the Asian qualifiers. This team is also preparing to represent Nepal for the upcoming Asian Games.

Other teams protested that DRS was allowed to play abroad without a domestic qualifying tournament.
However, Suraj Dangol, president of Nepal Esports Association, claimed that DRS was allowed according to the association's standards.

He informed that the criteria for taking the opportunity for the team for foreign competitions held throughout the year is made based on the results of the national competition that the association conducts once a year.

In the national competition held in Kathmandu last September, High Voltage team won the title while DRS became the runner-up.
Based on this, High Voltage received permission for the World Championship to be organized by the International Esports Federation (ISF) in Bali, Indonesia. However, the team was defeated in the South Asian qualifiers.

"Since the Global Esports Games 2022, Istanbul to be held by the ISF and the Global eSports Federation (GSF), we have given permission to the second team DRS," said Suraj Dangol, president of the association, to Online News.

ISF and GSF are world-class federations with similar activities in eSports. Nepal has recognized both federations. However, for participation in official competitions like Asian Games and Olympics, it will have to go through ISF.
