KATHMANDU: Lumbini Lions have been eliminated from the Nepal Premier League (NPL) after losing to Kathmandu Gurkhas.
Lumbini became the first team to be eliminated from the tournament after losing to Kathmandu by 18 runs in the second match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) on Wednesday.
Chasing a modest target of 104 runs set by Kathmandu, Lumbini was all out for 85 runs in 19.2 overs.
Kathmandu bowler Dipesh proved to be costly for Lumbini. He sent Lumbini's two openers Ashutosh Ghiriya and Arjun back to the pavilion without allowing them to score double runs.
Dipesh dismissed Ashutosh in the second ball of the 3 overs and Arjun Saud in the last ball of the 3 overs. Ashutosh scored 4 runs in 12 balls while Arjun scored only 3 runs in 10 balls.
Lumbini captain Rohit's batting order also fell victim to Dipesh's bowling. Rohit, who had scored 8 runs in 15 balls, was caught LBW by Dipesh.
Lumbini's Tom Moores and Vivek Yadav also failed to add double runs. Saad Bin Zafar, Ramon Simmonds and Abinash Gautam also failed to open their account.
