Alexander Gadegaard Shah (Alex) has set a new national record in the men's 100m freestyle at the 32nd Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
In today's game at the Aquatic Center in Tokyo, Alex set a new national record by completing the required distance in 53.41 seconds. He improved on his previous record of 55.38 seconds. Alex's chances of reaching the next stage are gone. The top 16 players who complete in less time from the hit stage will advance to the semifinals. Alex left behind 10 players from Bhutan, Maldives, and Pakistan in South Asia.
Similarly, another Nepali player Gaurika Singh will compete tomorrow. He will compete in the 100-meter freestyle. Earlier, Nepal's judo player Sonia Bhatt and shooter Kalpana Pariyar were eliminated from the selection phase. Sonia competed in the 48 kg weight category and Kalpana of Shooting competed in the 10m air rifle.
