KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has congratulated the U-19 National Women's Cricket Team on their advancement to the ICC T20 Women's U-19 World Cup 2025.
Nepal qualified for the World Cup set to be held in Malaysia next year, after winning the final match of the Asia Qualifiers of the World Cup held in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday. It defeated the host UAE by 8 wickets.
The Prime Minister took to his social media account to celebrate the historic victory of Nepali women's cricketers in the international match. He writes "Nepal will play in the World Cup for the first time in women's cricket. Congratulations to Team Nepal!"
Nepal reached the final after collecting 10 points from six matches. Although the UAE also accumulated 10 points, Nepal advanced to the final based on a higher run rate, following a comprehensive win in the UAE earlier today.
