Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that it is a moment of pride and joy to declare Nepal's popular game volleyball as a national sport during his second term as Prime Minister.
While inaugurating the Central Asian Volleyball Association (KAVA) Women's Volleyball Challenge Cup at Covered Hall in Tripureshwor on Monday, Prime Minister Dahal said that it was another happy coincidence for him to inaugurate the KAVA Women's Volleyball Challenge Cup on the day when volleyball was declared the national sport of Nepal.
Earlier, when Dahal was the prime minister, volleyball was declared as the national sport of Nepal.
Eight countries from South Asia and Central Asia will participate in the tournament. India and Uzbekistan have started victoriously in the match that took place on Monday. India beat Bangladesh in straight sets 3-0.
The participating teams include hosts Nepal, Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
