Despite the corona, the Talpokhara area is bustling with domestic tourists. The number of youths enjoying the natural environment around the lake in the afternoon is increasing here. The number of domestic tourists has skyrocketed after the development of Talpokhara in Rampur, about 65 km east of Palpa's headquarters Tansen, as a tourist destination. According to boatman Bhagwan Devkota, about 400 people visit the site daily.
He says, "The number of people has increased day by day after Maghe Sankranti. We have also got the job of boating. As it is wintertime, many people come to walk around the lake in the afternoon sun." It costs Rs 50 per person to go around the lake by boat. Currently, three boats, including two wooden ones, are used here. Especially in Talpokhara, there is a crowd of youngsters and children enjoying boating, taking selfies, making videos, and ticking and taking photos.
Talpokhara, a tourist destination listed as one of the 100 tourist destinations, has recently attracted various tourists after its completion of various infrastructure upgrades. Although the Corona has been closed for some time, the boat is now running regularly. Janak Bhandari, a member of the Lake Conservation Committee says that people from different places come to the lake for boat rides.
He said that as the human activity is increasing, a fiberglass boat with a roof that can accommodate eight people in the shape of a duck and a wooden boat with a roof of 23 feet are being prepared. It is now known as Mini Fewatal, 'Talpokhara'. According to local Pradip Pandey, it has contributed to the development of tourism in Rampur after the construction of tourist infrastructure in Pokhara.
Sagar Prasad Devkota, chairman of the Talpokhara Conservation Committee, says that the land has been developed as a lake and turned into a tourist area. "The committee has been working on the physical infrastructure for the up-gradation of Talpokhara for over a decade now. If it intends to work, the budget will be available from different places," said Chairman Devkota. According to Chairman Devkota, more than Rs. 35 million has been spent on the development of tourism infrastructure with the support of various sectors so far.
Shrimadbhagavat Dhandhanyanchal Gyan Mahayagya started the work of tourism promotion here from 2066 BS and now it has been developed as a tourist area. A temple has been built in the middle of the lake as a reflection of the lake.
Boat operation has been started here from 7th February 2074 BS. The operation of two boats has been suspended since last September due to health concerns. The lake is spread over an area of about 45 ropanis. There is a temple of Jaleshwar Mahadev in the middle of the lake. There is a fence around the lake, entrance and a selfie zone for tourists to take photos. It even has a pond and a park in its name. The park hosts various events and picnics. About 75 ropani area including lake and park is in the name of Talpokhara Committee. The rainwater harvesting pond has been developed and turned into a lake.
