318 coronavirus cases on Wednesday: MoHP

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Wednesday reported 318 new cases of coronavirus in the country. With the addition of the new cases, the number has risen to 268,310.

Of the newly infected, 112 are reported to be females and 206 males.

In the past 24 hours, 383 people diagnosed with the infection have recovered as per the data shared by the MoHP. Altogether, 262,642 individuals have recovered from COVID-19 as of Wednesday.

Currently, the country has 3,693 active cases with 97.9 per cent recovery rate.

The ministry also reported the death of six persons from the disease in the last 24 hours. With this, the nationwide death toll from the disease has reached 1,975.

A total of 2,026,726 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests have been conducted in the country as of Wednesday.

Likewise, 3,693 people have been reported to be staying in isolation while 172 others are in the quarantine facility in the country.

The MoHP on Tuesday had reported 348 new cases of coronavirus taking the nationwide tally to 267,992.

More than 96.01 million people have been reported to be infected by the virus worldwide and at least 2,055,790​ have died, a Reuters tally showed.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
