Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Sri Lankan president Ranil Wickremesinghe have held a meeting in Kampala, Uganda.
The bilateral meeting was held in the course of their participation at the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit which is being held in Kampala.
PM Prachanda stressed bilateral cooperation for regional cooperation and mutual interest reasoning that Nepal and Sri Lanka had similar stand on non-aligned foreign policy.
A common role could be played in making SAARC dynamic, PM Prachanda said, hoping that the dynamism of SAARC could help foster regional cooperation and common interest.
In response, Sri Lankan President Wickremesinghe assured that Sri Lanka was ready to cooperate to make SAARC active. He also underlined the need for Nepal-Sri Lanka cooperation for regional interest and common economic benefits, according to PM Prachanda’s secretariat.
Also attending the meeting together with PM Prachanda were Foreign Minister NP Saud, PM’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Dr Rupak Sapkota, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal and officials from the Foreign Ministry.
