Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav has said that commitment of not only of the government but also of all political parties, civil society, private sector and the media was needed for the effectiveness of democracy.

In a message today on the occasion of the National Democracy Day, the Vice President said democracy is only alternative to democracy and all should move ahead with positive mindsets in its exercise.

The Vice President has recalled this day as a historic moment that achieved a success of the people’s movement in 2007 BS against the 104-year-long oligarchic Rana regime due to people’s sacrifices.

In his message, the Vice President has expressed happiness, peace and prosperity to all Nepali sisters and brothers at home and abroad on this occasion.

Vice President Yadav has also recalled and expressed condolences to all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in people’s movement, Madhes movement, indigenous nationalities movement and others happened in different stages of history for the cause of democracy.
