KOLKATA : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attended the Students’ Week program organized at Dhandhanya Auditorium. Along with handing over the job appointment letters to the Santosh Trophy winners at the program, the Chief Minister recalled the various struggles of her student life to her political life. She highlighted the success and impact of the educational projects launched by the state government. From the Students’ Week stage, Mamata Banerjee said that 47 lakh students have already received training through the Utkarsh Bangla project. Out of these, 10 lakh children have got jobs.

The objective of the Utkarsh Bangla project is to make the youth skilled in the industrial sector by providing them with necessary training. She said, “If any company wants employees, they can hire them from Utkarsh Bangla.” The Chief Minister further mentioned that 500 ITIs and polytechnics have already been set up in the state. These provide high-quality training to students and prepare them for employment. Mamata said, “I did my MA class from Calcutta University. Even when I was studying LLB, no one knew my identity.” Regarding her age increase, Mamata said, “I have increased my age by 5 years. Even my name is not my choice. But whatever happens, happens.” She further said, “When I walk, my brain works. And when I don’t walk, I feel like I am not doing anything.”
