KATHMANDU: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said he would take initiative for the development of Apihimal rural municipality in Darchula district.

In a meeting with the people’s representatives from the Apihimal rural municipality and political parties’ representatives at his personal residence in Lalitpur on Wednesday, Chairman Dahal, also the former Prime Minister, assured development works in the rural municipality of the far west district.
The rural municipality is named after the highest mountain in the far west, Api Mountain. He also vowed increasing the budget to the local level.

Furthermore, he expressed his willingness to coordinate efforts with the public agencies such as Nepal Tourism Board and the Nepal Electricity Authority for promotion of tourism and expansion of electricity in this region, noting the tourism potentials of this area.

During the meeting, the visiting delegation raised concerns about the infrastructure development including the expansion of road network in the region. They urged Dahal for his positive intervention in allocating sufficient budget to complete the remaining 10 km of road leading to the district headquarters from their rural municipality.

They also called for his assistance in expansion of electricity in all wards and human settlements within the rural municipality. Central level intervention was also sought for division of relatively bigger ward eg ward no 3 into more units for effective public service delivery.

On the occasion, a three-point memorandum signed by Apihimal rural municipality Chairman Bhakta Singh Thekare Bohora, its Vice-Chairperson Devika Devi Bohora and ward chairperson of all wards within the local municipality was handed over to Dahal.
