232 coronavirus cases on Saturday: MoHP

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Saturday reported 232 new cases of coronavirus in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country’s COVID-19 tally to 269,180.

Of the newly infected, 91 are reported to be females and 141 males.

In the past 24 hours, 386 people diagnosed with the infection have recovered as per the data shared by the MoHP. Altogether, 263,734 individuals have recovered from COVID-19 as of Saturday.

Currently, the country has 3,452 active cases with 97.9 per cent recovery rate.

The ministry also reported the death of eight persons from the disease in the last 24 hours. With this, the nationwide death toll from the disease has reached 1,994.

A total of 2,038,842 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests have been conducted in the country as of Saturday.

Likewise, 3,452 people have been reported to be staying in isolation while 147 others are in the quarantine facility in the country.

The MoHP on Friday had reported 302 new cases of coronavirus taking the nationwide tally to 268,948.

Nearly 98 million people have been reported to be infected by the virus worldwide and at least 2,105,808 have died, a Reuters tally showed.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
