KATHMANDU: Renowned wildlife photographer Chungba Sherpa has passed away. The 64-year-old Sherpa died at 12.15 am today while under treatment at local Grande Hospital, said Phunuru Sherpa, the Ward Chair of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu rural municipality-1.

Chungba had been receiving treatment for liver-related ailment since last week. He was put under ventilator treatment.
He is survived by two sons and three daughters.

A permanent resident of Lukla, Khumbu Pasang Lhamu rural municipality-1 in Solukhumbu district, Chungba was also associated with the Nepali Congress party for a long time. He had served as the Nepali Congress’ Khumbu Pasang Lhamu rural municipality president. He also served as the Chairman of the then Chaurikharka Village Development Committee.

Chungba was also into the tourism business and he was active in wildlife photography since some years. He was also affiliated to various national and international photography-related organisations.
