SARLAHI: The thick fog and frost seen in the Tarai region for the past few days have made daily public life difficult. The cold wind is causing the frost.

Thick fog occurs every year during the winter. However, this year it is different probably due to climate change, say the locals.
Some days there is bright sunshine and some days there is thick fog. Drivers have said that it is difficult to drive vehicles in the morning due to the thick fog. The risk of road accidents has also increased, according to the District Traffic Office, Nawalpur.
Meanwhile, farmers have not been able to go to their fields due to the fog, affecting agricultural activities. Devananda Raya Yadav, head of the Agricultural Knowledge Center, shared that winter crops have been damaged due to fog.

Children, the elderly and daily-wage laborers have been affected the most. Dr Avinash Singh of the Provincial Hospital said that respiratory problems, pneumonia and fever have started increasing due to the cold.

In the mean time, the District Administration Office, Sarlahi has appealed to the residents to take necessary precautions to avoid fog and cold. People have been requested to wear warm clothes, stay indoors in the morning and evening, and pay special attention to children and the elderly to protect them from the cold.

The Office has also distributed fiber quilts to 68 poor and Dalit people affected by the cold in Parsa Rural Municipality-3 and 4 and to 61 families in Bishnu Rural Municipality-1, Bara.
