KATHMANDU: A police officer who kicked and beat a young man during a motorcycle check on the bypass road section of Bharatpur Metropolitan City in Chitwan has been suspended.

According to SP Gautam Mishra of the District Police Office, Chitwan, the Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI Buddhi Bahadur Gharti Bhujel, has been suspended, who works at Ganeshsthan Bit.

Mishra informed that he was suspended for acting against police ethics. The incident took place on December 30 when Bhujel, stationed at the temporary police post in Ganeshdham, kicked the young man repeatedly during a motorcycle check.

The video, shared on social media, shows Bhujel kicking the man while he lay on the road near an electric pole.
After the video went viral on facebook, the District Police Office formed a five-member investigation committee under the leadership of DSP Gyan Kumar Mahato to investigate the incident.
