TANAHU: The Committee for Martyrs Memorial Trust in Pulimarang of Vyas municipality-8 in Tanahu has called on President Ramchandra Paudel to facilitate holistic development of a martyrs’ memorial park at Pulimarang.
According to Committee President Eak Bahadur Gurung, budget of Rs 150 million has been estimated for the holistic development of the site and the Head-of-the-State has been urged to facilitate towards that end.
The President and his spouse arrived here to pay homage to the martyrs, commemorating the Martyrs’ Day, 2081 BS today. Upon arrival here, the couple was welcomed by chief of district-based government offices and security agencies, political leaders, cadres and the locals.

The park that lies about 40 kilometers north to the district headquarters, Damauli, features half-busts of six martyrs—Bharat Gurung, Shamsher Bahadur Gurung, Lal Dhwoj Gurung, Dharma Dhwoj Gurung, Sarba Singh Gurung, and Hastabir Gurung—who lost their lives during the movements against the Rana regime and the partyless Panchayat system. All of them were from Pulimarang.
The park was established in 2066 BS to honor their sacrifices.
