Family victimised by landslide, flood to get Rs 500,000 grant in Myagdi

The government will provide Rs 500,000 grant to the families of landslide and flood survivors in Myagdi district. 

The disaster survivors who lost their homes due to the landslide and flood in this monsoon season will get the grant for the reconstruction of houses.

The National Disaster Risk Mitigation and Management Executive Committee under the Home Ministry has approved the work procedure with the arrangement of providing the grant to each family of the mountainous district for reconstructing houses.

Mayagdi’s Chief District Officer (CDO) Umakant Adhikari said that they have received a work procedure with the arrangement of grant providing in three tranches through the local level.

He said, “We have sent a circular to all six local levels to select beneficiaries as per the work procedure. The grant amount received in the account of the District Disaster management Committee will be distributed through the local level.”

A work procedure has been prepared where victims’ family would get Rs 500,000 in mountainous districts, Rs 400,000 in hilly districts and Rs 300,000 in Tarai districts.

According to the National Reconstruction Authority, the families victimised by the natural disaster from June 12 last year will get the grant.

The District Disaster Management Committee has been accorded the responsibility to identify the details of victims and real beneficiaries.
