Police in Sunsari district arrested two youths in possession of 150 kg of marijuana from Barahchhetra Municipality-8 on Monday night.

The arrested have been identified as Bhupen Raya (22), a local resident of the same municipality, and Amir Limbu (25), a resident of Ramdhuni Municipality-7 in the district.

They were transporting and peddling the drugs in a van with registration number KO 2 CHA 112 and a motorcycle with registration number KO 2 PA 3502 from Chatara.

Acting on a tip-off, security personnel deployed from the Mahendranagar-based Area Police Office nabbed them with the substances during a routine vehicle check. The police also seized a fake pistol from them.

Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched to nab the van driver and the pillion rider of the motorcycle, informed the police.

Similarly, police arrested a man with 2.5 kg of marijuana from Triyuga Municipality-3 in Udayapur district on Monday afternoon.

The arrested has been identified as Harka Bahadur BK, a local resident of Chaudi in the same municipality.

He was allegedly peddling the marijuana from his house. Acting on a tip-off, the Udayapur-based District Police Office nabbed him with the substance. 

Meanwhile, Nawalparasi police held four persons in possession of pharmaceuticals drugs from Sunwal Municipality-12 on Monday afternoon.

One of the arrested has been identified as Binaya Kumar Harijan (23), a local resident of Lumbini Municipality-6 in Rupandehi district while the names of the other three have not been disclosed. They had 98 ampules of phenergan, diazepam, nufrin, and syringe needles in their possession.

Bhumahi-based Temporary Police Beat nabbed them with the substances.

Similarly, a youth has been arrested from Tikapur Municipality-9 in Kailali district on Monday afternoon.

The name of the 18-year-old who has been arrested has not been disclosed. He had 2.80 grams of brown sugar in his possession.

Tikapur-based Area Police Office nabbed him with the substances during a routine check.

Further investigation into the cases is underway, informed the police.
