The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Wednesday reported 134 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country’s COVID-19 tally to 272,349.
Of the newly infected, 63 are females and 71 are males.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley has reported 65 new cases of coronavirus infection — 55 in Kathmandu, four in Lalitpur and six in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours. Of the newly infected, 29 are females and 36 are males.
As many as 118 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 268,549 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Wednesday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 98.6 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.
The death toll from COVID-19 has remained 2,047 since no fatalities have been reported in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 1,753 active cases in Nepal.
Earlier, the MoHP on Tuesday had reported 160 new cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the COVID-19 tally to 272,215.
More than 106.93 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 2,340,014 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
