The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Monday reported 122 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country’s COVID-19 tally to 272,840.
Of the newly infected, 42 are reported to be females and 80 are males.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 73 new cases of coronavirus infection — 60 in Kathmandu, ten in Lalitpur and three in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours. Of the newly infected in the valley, 22 are females and 51 others are males.
As many as 144 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 269,204 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Monday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 98.7 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.
Likewise, the death toll from COVID-19 has reached 2,055 with one more death from the disease reported in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 1,581 active cases in Nepal.
Earlier, the MoHP on Sunday had reported 104 new cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the COVID-19 tally to 272,718.
More than 108.92 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 2,505,769 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 3:00 pm on February 15.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
