Russian citizens, given the current geopolitical landscape, will be involved in the climbing season. A total of 16 people, including 11 men and 5 women from the Russian Federation, have been granted permission to climb various mountains, according to the Department of Tourism. A total of 14 people, including 10 men and 4 women from the Russian Federation, have been allowed to climb the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest.
Ukraine had requested the Nepalese government to ban Russian climbers from entering Nepal. Despite requests through the Embassy of Ukraine in the Capital of India, the Government of Nepal has not made any public statement in this regard.
Russia has been banned by the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA). Founded in 1932, the organization has 67 member countries.
