UML mayoral candidate Keshav Sthapit of Kathmandu Metropolitan City has responded lightly to the allegation of sexual harassment against him.
When asked about the allegation, he said that people like him are being accused from time to time.
After he registered his candidacy for mayor, he was asked about the sexual harassment allegation against him.
In response, he said, ‘I have nothing to say. An episode happens from time to time. There is always some controversy or another linked with me. But all of those are false, that is why I am here today!’
His response was met with laughter and applause from supporters.
Four years ago, Rashmila Prajapati, a former employee of Kathmandu Metropolis, and Ujjala Maharjan, a journalist, alleged that they had been sexually harassed by Sthapit. The campaign, launched by women around the world, was known as ‘Me Too‘.
