World record holder Kami Rita Sherpa returns to base camp

Everest rope fixing team leader Kami Rita Sherpa has returned to the base camp after his 26th successful ascent of Everest. He arrived at the base camp at 9:22 this morning, said Tasilhakpa Sherpa, Director of Seven Summit Treks.

Kami Rita broke his own previous record last year and set a new world record.

Kami Rita Sherpa, 52, led 10 other Sherpa climbers on Saturday to climb the 29,031.69-foot mountain from the traditional southeastern ridge route.

Renowned climber Kami Rita Sherpa was welcomed at the base camp of Everest by climbers from various expeditions as well as liaison officers representing the Government of Nepal.
