Police in Morang district on Monday night arrested a youth who had been on the run since he allegedly raped an 11-year-old girl in Saptari district.

The arrested has been identified as Naresh Mandal Dhanuk (28) of Surunga Municipality -5 in Saptari district.

Acting on the tip-off that Dhanuk had been hiding in Biratnagar Metropolitan City after allegedly raping the girl last week on March 3, police personnel deployed from Rani Morang-based Area Police Office (APO) detained him from Biratnagar-15.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the case is underway, said police.
