Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has instructed banks and financial institutions not to stop essential banking services even though it is a public holiday.
On Monday, the government of Nepal declared a public holiday on the occasion of ‘People's War Day’.
Banks and financial institutions remain closed on public holidays. However, the NRB has instructed not to stop the essential banking service. "In order to provide essential banking services such as cash transactions, check clearing, etc., from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm, necessary departments and offices of banks and financial institutions should be kept open and arrangements should be made to resume services," said the notification of NRB.
Apart from that, other banking services will remain closed.
