Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.14 percent to 3,443.44 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.14 percent higher at 13,760.97 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 759.9 billion yuan (about 116.57 billion US dollars), down from 772.1 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to electricity and environmental protection saw strong performances, while those related to the chemical industry led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1 percent to close at 2,698.26 points on Monday.
