Police arrested seven people involved in a gambling offence in Gokarneshwor Municipality-9, Kathmandu district.
Those seven arrested, one has been identified as Tenzing Tashi Lama (37) of Helambu Rural Municipality-1, Sindhupalchok district.
Acting on tip information that Lama was allegedly conducting gambling activity in his rented room based at Bhagawati Chowk, security personnel deployed from the Bouddha-based Metropolitan Police Circle (MPC) nabbed them on Saturday afternoon.
MPC recovered Rs 101,390 cash and also seized 12 decks of cards from their possession.
Similarly, Nawalparasi police arrested seven gamblers in Madhyabindu Municipality-13.
The arrested have been identified as Bal Bahadur Saru and Dol Bahadur Saru (37) of the same municipality in the district.
Acting on a tip-off that they were gambling, Nawalparasi District Police Office (DPO) nabbed them on Saturday afternoon from Bal Bahadur's residence in Mainaghat.
DPO seized Rs 59,890 and also recovered three decks of cards from them.
Further investigation into the cases is being carried out, informed police.
