Police on Friday arrested eight people involved in a gambling offence from Gokarneshwor Municipality-6 in Kathmandu.
Those arrested have been identified as Kanak Bahadur Tamang and Prem Tamang (28) of Namobuddha Municipality-5 in Kavrepalanchowk district.
Acting on a tip-off that Kanak was allegedly conducting gambling activity in his tent, Bouddha-based Metropolitan Police Circle (MPC) nabbed them from Basuki chowk.
MPC also seized Rs 42,000 cash and recovered three decks of cards from them.
Likewise, seven gamblers were apprehended from Gokarneshwor Municipality-6.
Of the arrested, one has been identified as Purna Sunar while the names of the other six have not been disclosed.
Based on a tip-off, they were gambling at Sunar's restaurant, security personnel deployed from Bouddha based Metropolitan Police Circle nabbed them from Jorpati. They were arrested on Friday night.
The police also seized Rs 77,550 cash and recovered three decks of cards from their possession.
Meanwhile, further investigation into the cases is underway, informed MPC, Bouddha.
