Agreement made between the local residents and the administration to remove the frequent obstacles in waste management and disposal at the Bancharedanda landfill site.
In a meeting held between the chief district officers of Kathmandu, Nuwakot and Dhading and the local people's representative and the chief administrative officer of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, four points were agreed upon to end the Bancharedanda barrier.
Sunil Lamsal, Waste Management Consultant of Kathmandu Metropolis, informed that, vehicles carrying garbage should not leak any leachate (formed when rain water filters through wastes placed in a landfill) on the road, deodorizing medicine/sanitizers should be sprinkled daily, where the garbage is piled up, and dumping waste randomly must be prohibited.
He claims that after the agreement, waste management will become easier. Similarly, it has been agreed to end the current obstacles in waste management.
