Bird flu has been detected in Kathmandu again. The flu was discovered in two places in Kirtipur and one place in Chandragiri on Monday.
The Department of Livestock Services has already sent a technical team this morning to cull 800 turkeys and disinfect the place in the initial phase. After the department got information that turkeys were dying in an unnatural manner in the area it collected some samples and forwarded them to the Central Veterinary Laboratory.
After a real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test was conducted on the samples it was ascertained that the turkeys were infected with bird flu.
The Department of Livestock Services has said that once the birds have been culled and the area disinfected it will release a detailed statement this evening. Prior to this too the flu was detected in Tarakaeshwor and some other areas.
