The Election Commission (EC) has urged the candidates to abide by the limit of the amount to be spent by the candidates during the local level election.
The limit of the amount to be spent by the party or candidate in the election as per the Election Commission Act, 2073 and Article 64 of the Local Level Election Act, 2073 shall be as prescribed by the Commission by publishing a notice in the Nepal Gazette. It has been reminded that the details of expenditure should be kept in the prescribed format as prescribed, the total expenditure incurred by any party or candidate in the election should not exceed the specified amount of expenditure. .
The Commission has issued a statement today stating that such expenses can be audited by an accredited auditor in sub-section (2) of section 25 of the Act. He made it clear that it would be easy to test reality and reliability.
In a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Election Commission, Shaligram Sharma Poudel said that the details of the election expenses to be submitted by the concerned candidates as per the law and the report submitted by the micro-observers assigned by the Commission are closely monitored. The Commission has instructed the Chief Electoral Officer and the Returning Officer to send the details of the expenditure to the Commission in secret before the polling day.
