Kathmandu DAO issues clarification regarding vehicular movement

The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, has issued a notice to clarify the provisions related to the vehicular movement for purposes like weddings, bratabandha (tonsuring ceremony), and hospital visits, among others. The DAO has stated that since there was a lot of confusion in the previous few days regarding vehicular movement for such purposes it has issued this notice again.

According to the DAO, for weddings and bratabandhas a maximum of 15 people will be allowed to travel in two vehicles. The vehicles must have a banner affixed denoting the purpose and can move within the district or outside the district too.

It has also mentioned that for people who need a vehicle pass to attend a funeral then they must submit a copy of the death certificate or a recommendation letter from the respective ward office stating the purpose at the DAO. A copy of a valid identity card must also be submitted.

As per the notice, people who are sick or those who are attending to a patient then they can use a vehicle within the valley on the basis of the hospital admit card or medical report card of the patient. It has also said that if a person needs to travel outside Kathmandu valley to visit a family member who is sick then an application must be filed at the DAO along with a copy of the patient’s hospital admit card or medical report card and a valid identity card.

Meanwhile, security guards will be allowed to move around in their vehicles but they must have their identity card and wear their uniform.
