Prof Dr. Kapil Man Shrestha and the Manav Sewa Ashram based in Kathmandu have won the 'Human Rights Award-2079'. Dr. Shrestha was honored with the award for his studies, research, teaching, writings, publications, advocacy, and protection of human rights, said the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs.
Similarly, the Ashram was awarded for rescuing, providing treatment, counseling, and caring for orphans and abandoned people. For the honor, a human rights award revolving around a fund was established in 2078 BS on the occasion of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights issuance by the Government of Nepal. Any individual or organization working in the human rights sector is given the award.
