Kathmandu Metropolitan Mayor Balendra Shah and filmmakers discussed the issue of entertainment tax, digital board and welfare fund today.
Filmmakers participating in the discussion, led by Ashok Sharma, demanded a 2 percent refund on entertainment tax, support for digital boards for publicity, and an increase in the existing welfare fund, as promised by Mayor earlier.
Currently, the metropolis has given permission to install digital boards only in certain places. Due to which, there has been a problem in the promotion of the film. Actor and director Nirmal Sharma, who participated in the meeting, said that the filmmakers have requested Mayor to facilitate this.
Also, a demand has been made to increase the amount in the Film Workers Welfare Fund of the Film Development Board headed by actress Basundhara Bhusal. At present, the fund has been providing assistance up to one lakh rupees depending on the health situation.
Ashok Sharma, Nirmal Sharma, Deepashree Niraula, Nischal Basnet, Khagendra Lamichhane, Rabindra Khadka and others participated in the discussion.
