Police arrested four men in possession of 1.85 kg of Yarsagumba valuable medicinal herb also known as caterpillar fungus worth around Rs 8 million in Kathmandu district.
Those arrested in this connection are Dundup Gurung (48) of Gorkha district, currently residing in Mitranagar, Kathmandu district; Bel Bahadur Thapa (50) of Lamjung district; Krishna Pariyar (40) of Gorkha, currently residing in Naya Buspark, Kathmandu district and, Dan Bahadur GC (47) of Pyuthan district.
Acting on tip information that they were illegally trading the yarsagumba, security personnel deployed from the Kathmandu-based Metropolitan Crime Divison (MCD) team nabbed them from Samakhusi, Kathmandu.
The police also seized contraband while conducting a raid operation from Gurung's room. The contraband was found hidden in Gurung's room. Yarsagumba weighing 1.85 kilogrammes was confiscated from them.
All the arrested have been handed to the Hattisar-based Division Forest Office, Kathmandu for necessary action, informed MPD.
