Lawyers representing Speaker of the House of Representatives, Agni Prasad Sapkota, have started placing their arguments before the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court, in Kathmandu, on July 4, 2021.

Hearing on a writ petition filed at Supreme Court against the constitutional appointments made through the ordinance has been postponed until coming Wednesday.

The postponement was due to a lack of time to hear the petition, according to the apex court. A division bench of acting Chief Justice Dipak Kumar Karki, Justices Mira Khadka, Hari Krishna Karki, Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha and Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada conducted the hearing on the case.

The hearing was held under the constitutional bench on the writ petition against various 52 constitutional appointments made by the erstwhile government led by CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli.

Earlier on 2 September 2021, a single bench of Justice Hari Phunyal had ordered that hearing on the case related to the ordinance related to the Constitutional Council and the constitutional appointments be postponed.
