More than 1300 traffic police officers in all three districts of Kathmandu Valley have been mobilized for Holi. This is to make Holi safe for one and all. Traffic management has been tightened as well to control activities that violate traffic rules during Holi celebrations.
“The plan is to mobilize our manpower and celebrate Holi in a polite and safe manner,” said Chief of the Division, Senior Superintendent of Police Umesh Raj Joshi on the eve of Holi. He directed the units and in-charges to strengthen traffic management. Additional traffic police will be mobilized on the management team. Excessive and unwanted use of vehicle, high speed and driving after consuming alcohol will all be cracked down on.
Furthermore, not wearing a helmet on a motorcycle, more than three on a motorcycle and targeting women when it comes to smearing paint and indecent behavior will be prohibited.
Special checks have been arranged at 68 places. Alcohol consumption will be strictly checked from this morning.
The branch has also made a special request to all dignitaries to celebrate as a dignified and safe festival
