PM Deuba’s greetings for Chhath festival

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has also extended best wishes to all Nepalis for their happiness, peace, and good health on the occasion of the Chhath Festival, 2079 adding that this festival has helped promote aspirations of cultural unity.

In a message of best wishes today, Prime Minister Deuba has stated that cultural festivals and traditions are the society’s priceless treasures adding that the Chhath festival has expanded across the country as a country’s common cultural festival.

PM Deuba has argued that unity in diversity and social amity were instances of our cultural practices.

Asking one and all to observe the festival with fervor, the PM has wished that this festival would further deepen and strengthen the feelings of cultural goodwill, co-existence, unity, and mutual tolerance.

The PM has also urged all Nepalis to celebrate Chhath by following health precautions against COVID-19 and dengue since the risks of such diseases are still there.

The Chhathi Mata (the Goddess of Power) is worshipped during this festival which is mostly celebrated in the Terai region of the country. It is equally celebrated with fervor in the Kathmandu Valley and other hilly and mountainous areas across the country of late.

On this day, devotees offer worship to the Sun God and Chhathi Mata.

Argha (curd) is offered to the rising and setting sun by visiting the riverside or ponds where the puja takes place during this festival.

It is believed that fasting observed during this festival would relieve people of trouble and miseries and the observer is blessed with good fortune.
