The Election Commission, through self-declaration, had barred construction businessmen involved in local level contracts from becoming candidates.
The self-declaration prepared by the commission for the candidate had provided that 'no local level contract should be involved in lease or movable and immovable property related transactions'.
The Supreme Court has ruled that the decision by the Election Commission to bar any candidate from running at the local level is not based on logic.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday made public the details of the April 18 order.
