European Union Film Festival continues in Surkhet

The 11th edition of the Nepal-European Union Film Festival organized by the delegation of the European Union in Nepal for the first time in Surkhet is continuing.

The festival, which started on October 19, is being conducted at the seminar hall of Midwest University, Kuinepani, Birendranagar. The press and information officer of the delegation, Amber Mainali, informed that five European and three Nepali film audiences were allowed to watch the film for free at the festival.

"The festival has been conducted through a mixed method of physical and online media", he said, "We have found that the audience's attraction towards the film has also increased and the enthusiasm has also increased." He said that on the 19th of October, the film 'Oscar and Lily' directed by Arasti Riahi, and 'Lola' directed by Laurent Micheli, and Oscar and 'Yet the Other Winter' directed by Kiran Shrestha were screened on the 20th.

According to him, The Little Comrade, 'Gods of Molenbeek', Lahureni Gurkha Girl will be shown on Monday. The Nepali story film 'Aina Jhyalko Putli', directed by Misa Camp and directed by Romiz Salun, and Sujit Bidari, will be shown in the closing session today October 22. Mirror window dolls have gained many accolades in recent times.

Acting Head of Delegation in Nepal, Dr. Joy, responded that the Event was excited to present Nepali films in Surkhet, outside Kathmandu. He expressed that the screening of excellent films will be useful for the general Karnali residents as well as film students.

Prof. Dr. Nanda Bahadur Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Midwest University, responded that he was happy to cooperate with the European Union in the film festival. He said that the film helped to know about the cultural and social life of Europe and Nepal and to strengthen the relationship between them. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Singh has suggested the organizers give priority to documentaries and films covering the environment of Karnali in the coming year.

Filmmaker Sujit Bidari will conduct a masterclass for film students and film workers from the Karnali region on the day of the festival's conclusion. After watching the movie 'Lola' on Sunday, the audience gave a touching response. Surja Rawal of Dailekh responded that the movie Lola touched his heart, while Sher Bahadur Acharya of Surkhet Lekbensi Municipality said that the presentation that included the story of the inter-soul of the third gender was good.
