Public screening of the film Lakka Jawan, based on the issues caused by migration, has started today. Migration in Nepal is on the rise. The number of people migrating from villages to cities, and from cities to foreign countries is increasing day by day resulting in the number of youths in the villages of Nepal decreasing. The number of elderly people in rural areas is increasing as young people migrate abroad in search of education, employment, and opportunities.
The film shows a poignant scene in a village where an old man dies. Since most people of the village have migrated, women of the village are compelled to carry the body for burial. The film also seeks to convey a message against violence against women. Many Nepali women are assaulted and violated, but not many get justice as their abusers aren't found guilty. The film also depicts the ongoing state of caste discrimination and untouchability in society.
Similarly, political interference and bribery in Nepali society are also included in the film.
The movie stars many of Nepal's big screen and television actors. Veteran comedian Madan Krishna Shrestha, along with Rajaram Poudel, Kiran KC, and Shivahari Poudel are some of the famous actors who are also starring in the film.
Directed by Shivahari Poudel, a successful comedian, the film aims to create a distinct identity among the Nepali audience. Before him, Deepashree Niraula, another comedian established herself as a film director.
There are a lot of funny scenes in this movie in which well-known actors have participated. There are also poignant scenes after the interval that made the audience cry.
As the movie depicts the story of families of those who have migrated to foreign countries, the audience is able to resonate with the storyline of the movie.
The songs of the movie gained popularity way before the movie was released.
The film is expected to find a fair market as it highlights the problem of young people going abroad, which is seen as a burning issue in Nepal.
