Nepal's famous climber Shambhu Tamang has died at the age of 70 at the Cancer Hospital in Harisiddhi, Lalitpur July 7. He had been suffering from cancer for a long time.
In 1973, at the age of 17 years, 6 months and 15 days, he climbed Mt. Everest and set a world record as the youngest climber in the world. His record was broken only in 2001. He was an advisor to the Nepal Mountaineering Association. The association has expressed grief over his demise.
