KATHMANDU: At the invitation of Kathmandu Metropolis City, a delegation led by the chair of Matsumoto City in Japan paid a visit to Kathmandu.
The Kathmandu Metropolitan City in Nepal and Matsumoto City in Japan share a sisterly bond. A welcome event was hosted by the Kathmandu Metropolis to honor the visiting guests.
Matsumoto Municipality Chief Yoshinao Gan led a delegation that visited Kathmandu to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the sisterly relations between the two cities.
Upon receiving the Japanese delegation, Chief of the Kathmandu Metropolis Balendra Shah gave a Dhaka cap and a replica of the Desh Maru Jhaya as a gesture of friendship. In the same way, Gan, the leader of Matsumoto, presented handcrafted items as gifts. Sunita Dangol, Deputy Mayor of the city, gave Dhaka topi, Pasmina shawl and Buddha statue to the visiting team members. Matsumoto's group consists of 19 members from different federal departments, with Matsumoto City Council President Yutaka Kamizho among them.
During the orientation program, the two hundred thousand Japanese yen gathered from the Matsumoto Citr employees was given to Saroj Guragai, the Chief Administrative Officer of the Metropolitan Municipality. The amount gathered for aiding those affected by flooding and disasters in Kathmandu.
Dr. Suman Singh Rajbhandari, the Vice Chairman of the Planning Commission, attended the event as well. The group arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
